Olympic victory for Craft Guild of Chefs team
Members of the Craft Guild of Chefs Culinary Academy return with a haul of medals from the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany

Members of the Craft Guild of Chef`s Culinary Olympics team have returned to the UK with a haul of medals after competing in the four-day competition in Germany this week.

The team, led by Compass Group chef Andy Twells, and made up of members of the CGC`s Culinary Academy, came back from Erfurt yesterday with one gold medal for Eton College chef James Davies and eight silver and five bronze for the rest of the team. 

All fifteen members spent four days battling it out with teams from across the world in the regional section of the competition.

Twells said: "The results reflect the Academy`s ethos in developing and nurturing new competitive talent and outstanding efforts from all the team are easily identified from the results.

"It just goes to prove that the formula we`ve got with the Culinary Academy works and that will be the formula we`ll use moving forward." 

Twells gave a special thanks to the Academy`s mentors Bernhardt Engelhardt, Michael Godfrey and Matt Owens and added: "Special mention must go to Wayne Harris whose single minded dedication and selfless commitment has made a significant contribution to every award."
