Gordon Ramsay to open restaurant in Tuscany
The chef will open and oversee a fine dining restaurant within the Castel Monastero hotel in Tuscany when it opens in July

Gordon Ramsay is to open and oversee a fine dining restaurant in Tuscany it has been announced.

The chef has put his name to the Cantina restaurant at the Castel Monastero hotel, a 76-room luxury hotel that will open in the Tuscany region in Italy next month.

Castel Monastero, once home to the Chigi Saracini family of Siena, is set in the mediaeval village of Monastero dell’Ombrone and has been converted into a luxury hotel with a spa and wellness centre.

Ramsay will oversee a fine dining restaurant set in the hotel`s 13th Century cellars that will `showcase the best in Tuscan cuisine`.

Announcing the news today on the Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH website, Ramsay said: "Tuscany is world renowned for its food culture and it is a privilege to be a part of it. At Castel Monastero we will use the best produce the region has to offer, from its white truffles to its exceptional olive oil."

The hotel - a sister property to the Forte Village in Sardinia, will include a bar and a tearoom, although it is not confirmed if Ramsay will have any connection with these areas of the hotel.

Ramsay has changed his business relationship with many of the hotels he has been connected with over the past year. In February GRH handed back control of the running of Maze at the Hilton in Prague with Ramsay remaining linked to it in an advisory capacity only and the restaurants in Los Angeles and Paris - The London and Le Trianon respectively - have also been handed back to the hotels in which they are housed, with GRH retaining control over menus and service as a consultant.
