Prestige Scotland wins restaurant contract at John Hope Gateway centre
Contract caterer Prestige Scotland is to manage the restaurant and other catering services at the £15.7m John Hope Gateway visitor centre when it opens at Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Gardens next month.
The caterer, part of Sodexo Alliance, has offered catering services for private and corporate events held at the 70-acre gardens since March 2008 and will now manage the 120-cover restaurant and 40-cover VIP room at the new attraction.
Alyson Cawley, managing director for Prestige Scotland, said: "We are delighted to be working with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh at such an exciting time. This unique new venue gives us the opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of our catering and hospitality expertise from afternoon teas to fine dining events."
The John Hope Gateway visitor centre, due to open on October 7, has been designed according to the principles of green construction and sustainability and will provide an educational space for visitors to the gardens.
Prestige Scotland said it will implement a range of environmentally friendly initiatives at the venue to support its ethos, inlcuding using biodegradable packaging and sourcing food locally. Bespoke chairs and tables have also been designed for the restaurant with the timber for the tabletops coming from timber previously felled and seasoned from the four Gardens of RBGE – Edinburgh; Benmore, in Argyll; Logan, in Dumfries & Galloway and Dawyck, in the Scottish Borders.
