Von Essen wins Hotel Chain of the Year at British Travel Awards

Von Essen wins the ultimate accolade for the hotel sector in the British Travel Awards with Hilton and The Dorchester also among the hotels picking up awards

Luxury hotel group Von Essen​ was voted Hotel Chain of the Year at The British Travel Awards​ last week with Hilton and The Dorchester also picking up awards.

The hotel chain, which includes Cliveden and Sharrow Bay among its properties beat Hilton, RIU hotels and resorts, Warner Leisure hotels and Shearings to the ultimate accolade for the hotel sector at the awards at Battersea Evolution in London last Wednesday.

Greg Ward, Von Essen’s executive director of sales and marketing, said: “It is a great honour to be recognised by our customers as well as the industry. Von Essen hotels continues to invest in staff, major refurbishments and in acquiring new and unique properties such as The Forbury, Reading, the first hotel in our Metropolitan set. We look forward to further developing our Metropolitan set with the opening of Hotel Verta in 2010 and continuing our extensive development programme.”

In the Hotel & Resort categories of the awards, Hilton was winner of Best Leisure Hotel Chain while The Dorchester won Best UK Boutique (or individual) Hotel.

The Best All Inclusive Hotel/Resort winner was First Choice Holiday Village in Malama, Cyprus and Best Worldwide Spa went to Conrad, Rangali Island in the Maldives.

The British Travel Awards use votes from the UK’s travelling consumers and agents and professionals from the travel industry to decide which companies operating in the travel and hospitality sector to reward.
