North of England-based pub operator Chameleon Pub Company is continuing with expansion plans with the purchase of its seventh site, a former Table Table pub restaurant in Lancaster.

The pub, known as Greaves Park, was part of a package of four Whitbread pub restaurants put on the market by Christie & Co and Gerald Eve last August.

Chameleon, led by Phil Strong, operates character-led individually-styled pubs with an emphasis on using locally-sourced produce. Other pubs in the group are The Keys in Lancashire, The Halfway House in Shipley, The Grey Hen in South Shields, The Cottage Inn in Haxby, Haworth Old Hall in Haworth and The Moorings in Sowerby Bridge.

Greaves Park, originally a Brewers Fayre before Whitbread converted it into a Table Table, has 170-covers spread across five different sections and a number of private dining rooms.

It is the second pub within the Whitbread package to find a new owner. Last year, Gerald Eve and Christie & Co sold the Nevill Crest & Gun in Kent to operator Brunning & Price.

Gerald Eve partner Chris Ford said: “After our sale of Nevill Crest & Gun at the end of last year to Brunning & Price, part of The Restaurant Group, we were very pleased to see another up and coming pub group buy Greaves Park.

"This is further evidence that pub companies are once again getting more active in the market and seeking out good freehold and long leasehold opportunities”.
