A new Italian restaurant and lounge bar called Cielo will open in Mayfair next week with Sardinian born chef Monserrato Marini behind the stove and director Tobia Speranza taking care of front-of-house.

Marini, who was previously at Caffe Caldesi in Marylebone, and Caffe Campagna in Bray, will serve a simple Italian menu with Sardinian influences in the 40-cover restaurant.

His dishes will include Culatello di Zibello with pear and acacia honey dressing; Grilled beef 'Carpaccio' ith balsamic and rosemary dressing, Pamesan and rocket; fillet of lamb wrapped in pancetta stuffed with rosemary and black truffles from Norcia and Panna cotta with Amarena cherries.

Speranza, previously at Kicca in Chelsea and Solo in Barcelona, has devised the exclusively Italian wine list, starting from £22 per bottle. The cocktail list will be overseen by the Cuckoo Club's Andreas Jansson.

The venue on New Burlington Street, which also includes an art gallery, will open from 6pm to 4am Tuesday to Saturday from Monday 15 March.
