Wyndham to operate tallest hotel in Wales
Wyndham Hotel Group has announced it is to operate the £60m Wyndham Cardiff Hotel, the tallest in Wales, which is currently under construction.
Due to be completed in 2013, the 200-bedroom, 32-storey hotel on Cardiff’s waterfront, a joint-venture with CHI Hotels and Resorts of Malta, will be the second Wyndham-operated hotel in the UK, joining the Grand London Chelsea Harbour.
The hotel will feature 3,600 sq m of function space, an indoor pool, gym and spa, two restaurants and bars, including a signature restaurant on the 24th and 25th floors, and 35 serviced apartments.
Developers Bayscape Ltd, will also develop 100 neighbouring residential units, shops and offices along the marina, which will connect to the Pont y Werin footbridge.

Tallest hotel in Wales
At 127m high, the Wyndham Cardiff Hotel will be the tallest building in Wales, but a far cry from the 310m tall Shard London Bridge, due for completion in 2012, where Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts are expected to operate a fifth of the available space.
Last month, property group Heron International called for an operator to come and oversee the Restaurant and Sky Bar at its Heron Tower development, which, at 230m high, will be the highest dining operation in London.
