Essex-based bar and restaurant operator Elysium Group will open a Japanese fusion venture in the heart of Chelsea next month, with plans to roll the concept out across further sites.

Elysium is hoping to open Zinnia – its first London venture – on Fulham Road in early December. Set over four floors the new venue will feature a bar, restaurant and private dining space, serving Japanese fusion food and cocktails.

“Zinnia is located on the site of the former Eight-Six bar and restaurant on Fulham Road, which was quite a celebrity haunt in its past, so there is a lot of history to the building,” a spokesperson told BigHospitality.

“We acquired the site earlier this year and it has undergone a complete renovation by one of the country’s top restaurant designers.”

Zinnia will open for lunch and dinner, but Elysium aims to establish the venue primarily as an evening destination for the affluent Chelsea crowd.

The group told BigHospitality it hopes to expand the Zinnia brand in the near future and is currently looking for further sites. It also hopes to roll out its Mimosa restaurant and deli concept following the success of the original Mimosa in Colchester.

Hudson House

Founded by Ash Afzalnia in 2002, Elysium currently has six venues in Colchester, with Zinnia taking its total UK count to seven.

The group opened its sixth venue, Hudson House, earlier this month following an extensive multi-million pound refurbishment of the four storey building it occupies.

Open all day every day, Hudson House encompasses casual dining concept the New York Bar & Kitchen, serving a menu of American food and cocktails, and Steak etc, serving dry aged steaks, lobster and ribs.

It also features a private members lounge and basement nightclub.
