Orderella, the cashless app which allows customers to order drinks and food from their smartphones, has been named Star Product at this year's Hospitality Show.

The app, launched at the end of 2013, was one of 10 products, from equipment to food and drink that are used by the hospitality industry, that was shortlisted for the award.

Recognised for its innovative technology, Orderella effectively turns a person's smartphone into a mobile waiter, allowing hospitality operators to manage orders on a cloud-based solution. It also allows customers to make payments.

Orderella chief executive Dennis Collett said: “We are delighted to have been recognised by our industry peers with this award, which is always hotly contested and showcases the best of the hospitality sector.

"Today’s mobile technology is a great enabler for the pubs, bars and restaurants we serve and we are extremely proud of what we have achieved in a relatively short period of time. In 2015 we are continuing to focus on meeting the emerging needs of this increasingly tech-savvy industry and the customers they serve.”

Held every two years at The Hospitality Show in Birmingham, the Star Product Awards, aim to single out the best and most innovative products for the industry.

The judges also gave special mentions to Gram’s SUPERIORPLUS 72 – a refrigeration cabinet with a revolutionary sustainable design and the VENTA modular buffet system by Signature FSE.

Other products to make the final 10 were insulated chocolate spray gun KREBS hotCHOC LM3 by Walsh Direct, Vanilla Macaroon Shells by Coup de Pates, Sirmione Double Rocks Glass by Cosi Tabellini UK, Horse Radish Shoots by Westlands, Zumex Soul by Jestic Foodservice Equipment, getWaiter! By Geniusin Ltd, VENTA modular buffet system by Signature FSE Ltd, CultBay by Cultuzz UK & Ireland Ltd and SUPERIORPLUS 72 by Gram UK.
