Michelin-starred Bristol-based restaurant Casamia will relocate to a new site at the former Bristol General Hospital next year as it looks to ‘push its high standards to the next level’.

The restaurant, which has been located in Westbury-on-Trym since 1999, will close on 23 December this year and re-open in January within one of the ground floor harbour-side units at The General development in Bristol.

Co-owner Jonray Sanchez-Iglesias, who with his brother Peter established Casamia in the family’s former trattoria, said: “Our Westbury restaurant has given us so many wonderful memories and it will forever hold a place in our hearts, but we’re incredibly excited about starting Casamia’s next chapter here at The General, a landmark development in the city.

“City & Country (the developers) just like us, are a family-run business and share many of the same values, including outstanding attention to detail and an insistence of quality.”

The new site will be marginally smaller than the current one, but will include a private dining room within the Test Kitchen, seating up to 12 people.

Peter said the restaurant would continue to serve its seasonal one menu concept at the new site.

“As Bristol boys we obviously saw no need to look any further than the BS postcode and with the spacious dining room, stunning views and great location it’s the perfect place for us to push our high standards to the next level,” he said.

“With our existing team at the helm we hope to delight guests with a truly high quality dining experience they have come to expect from us.”
