The Hand and Flowers chef patron Tom Kerridge will not be opening the restaurant at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower as had been previously planned.

Kerridge was due to manage a renovated Rib Room Bar and Restaurant and operate it as a stand-alone site at the Knightsbridge hotel in 2017. However, Dubai Holdings (owner of Jumeirah), appears to have changed its plans for the Rib Room and the renovation, which was to accompany the relaunch under Tom Kerridge this year.

“We are all hugely disappointed that this project is not working out as we wanted since we had exciting plans to create a dining experience that would have celebrated the heritage of the building,” says Kerridge. “However, Jumeirah has made a decision to re-open The Rib Room this week without any notification and without the restaurant transferring management. The fact that there has been no sign of the planned refurbishment has left us in a very difficult position.”

A spokesperson for Kerridge reiterated that the reopening of the Rib Room this month now has nothing to do with the chef, who runs the two Michelin-star The Hand and Flowers alongside the newly-starred The Coach (both in Marlow).

Kerridge will open a third venue in Marlow next month. The Butcher’s Tap will trade as a butchers and bar by day before switching to a simple and (unsurprisingly) meat-led food offering in the evening. Kerridge says the business will operate as a local pub with beers on tap and community nights.
