Robin Hutson’s hotel group The Pig will open its latest venue, in Cornwall, on 31 July.

The Pig at Harlyn Bay, which is located by Harlyn and Constantine Bay beaches and a 10-minute drive from Padstow, will become the seventh hotel in the group’s portfolio.

According to the group, the construction team was in the final stage of completing the project when lockdown started but they have now re-started work so that it can open within July.

The hotel group will open the doors across its hotel estate on Saturday 4 July. To mark re-opening, every room across every hotel on that day will be allotted to 190 NHS workers from within a 25-mile radius of each hotel that were nominated by members of the public.

The group says it has put in place a number of Covid measures across every venue to ensure the safety of its staff and guests. While it says it is ‘virtually impossible’ to remove every risk in a restaurant, its policy is to mitigate the risk through best practice and risk assessment.

This will include ensure hygiene standards and physical distancing; breakfast being served at guests’ tables with its buffet option not available. Guests will be required to pre-book their Breakfast time on arrival and lunch and dinner reservations for hotel guests will be staggered to support physical distancing.

In addition, menus will be available by email in advance and in the guests’ rooms, tables will be positioned the required distance apart in all our restaurants, in line with the latest government guidelines and hand santiser will be available on every table.  

The company says it is on track to open its eight hotel, The Pig in the South Downs, in Summer 2021. 

The hotel will be located in the Grade II-listed Madehurst Lodge near Arundel, which the group acquired in 2018.
