Final La Tasca restaurant replaced by Tapas Revolution

Spanish Restaurant Group has closed the Liverpool site following its acquisition of the La Tasca brand early last year, and will relaunch it next month under its growing Tapas Revolution chain.

It will bring Tapas Revolution's estate to 10 sites in total, with other locations including Lakeside, Westfield, Sheffield, Brighton and Bath.

Fronted by chef Omar Allibhoy, Tapas Revolution serves a menu of Spanish tapas, large sharing plates, sangria and cocktails.

“Since opening the first Tapas Revolution restaurant back in 2010, the brand continues to grow from strength to strength and we’re delighted to now open our tenth restaurant here in Liverpool," says Allibhoy.

"The opening of the new restaurant provides a welcome boost to the local hospitality sector and we’re truly excited to see what the future holds for Tapas Revolution.”

The first La Tasca restaurant opening in Manchester in 1993, and at its peak grew to an 80-strong chain.

It was acquired by Causal Dining Group (now known as The Big Table) in 2015 in a deal valued at between £20m and £25m.

Subsequently, much of La Tasca's estate was either closed or absorbed by Casual Dining Group's other brands, and in February last year its final three restaurants were sold to Spanish Restaurant Group​​ alongside a single site in Manchester operating under its La Viña offshoot.

With the opening in Liverpool, all three La Tasca sites acquired by Spanish Restaurant Group have now been converted into Tapas Revolution restaurants.

"We are currently reviewing options and formats for the La Tasca brand of the future, this does however mark the end of an era for the La Tasca in its current format with Liverpool being the final location to be converted and refurbished since we acquired the brand in 2020.”
