Brunning and Price to open The Architect in Bath

Called The Artichect, it will encompass part of the ground floor and basement of the Grade 2 listed building, which was designed by Major Charles Edward Davis for the hotelier Alfred Holland and built from Bath stone on the site of the Athenaeum in 1901.

Located on Orange Grove close, during World War II the hotel was used by the admiralty as a postal sorting office and remained in its possession until the 1990s. It was then refurbished and became apartments above and a restaurant below. It is due to open in the summer.

The pub will have a number of rooms, including a library and reception area as well as a veranda, and will feature a large marble-topped central bar, high ceilings and pillars throughout.

The pub will serve a daily changing menu comprising British pub classics as well as dishes from around the world.

‘’You’ll find us traditional in style, with wooden floors, bookcases, decent old furniture and lots of rugs and plants. This project will be a joy to work on as the building itself is crammed with history and character,” says Mary Willcock, Brunning and Price managing director.

Brunning and Price currently operates 79 pub restaurants across the UK.
