Announcing his departure on Instagram, Cenci said he felt incredibly proud to have been a part of the 26 Grains family, having originally partnered with Stoney Street to host a residency there back in 2020.
He wrote: "Over a year and a half ago, I was given an amazing opportunity by Alexandra Hacking [director, 26 Grains] to host a residency at her restaurant Stoney Street in Borough Market.
"A wild ride of lockdowns and restrictions ensued, and many unforeseen circumstances out of our control almost became a weekly hurdle.
"We battled on to what has been an enormous success and an absolute pleasure of a cooking experience for me, and I feel incredibly proud to have been part of the 26 Grains family.
"After heading the food offering at both sites and helping with future projects (in the pipeline), I feel I’ve taken them as far as I can.
"Alas, my time with Stoney Street and 26Grains has come to an end; I will always be grateful to everyone involved at both sites for making my time there so joyful."
While Cenci didn't confirm what his plans are for the future, he did add that he 'hoped to announce some very exciting news soon'.
Cenci previously headed up Loyal Tavern in London's Bermondsey, which closed in early 2020 due to the impact of the Covid pandemic.
His early career saw him cook at London’s Noble Rot and Michelin-starred Restaurant Laurent in Paris, before joining Duck & Waffle as senior sous chef ahead of the sky-high restaurant’s opening in 2012. He later progressed to executive chef.
