A restaurant and bar that will offer 360-degree views of London’s skyline is due to open next month.

Wagtail Rooftop Bar & Restaurant will open on 12 May on King William Street in Monument with the kitchen being headed up by former Corrigan’s Bar & Restaurant head chef Phillip Kearsey and mixologist Angelos Bafas in charge of the drinks programme.

The venue, which is a redevelopment of the former House of Fraser Monument, will have three different areas: rooftop terrace The Bar at Wagtail, The Restaurant and Terrace at Wagtail; and The Wagtail Private Dining Room.

Wagtail is the latest hospitality venture for Maven Leisure, which was established in 2003 by the current owners and senior management of ETM Group Limited. The group operates 13 bars, pubs and restaurants in central London including rooftop bar Aviary, The Botanist Sloane Square, sports bars Greenwood, Westwood and Redwood and its brew and sports pub, Long Arm Pub & Brewery.

“Following what has been a challenging few years for the hospitality industry, we’re thrilled to be building our portfolio and announcing the opening of Wagtail Rooftop Bar and Restaurant,” says Maven founder and chief executive Ed Martin.

“The highly skilled craftmanship of Philip and Angelos, coupled with the breath-taking views from this iconic building, will ensure Wagtail is a luxury experience like no other.”
