Specialist Welsh rarebit restaurant set for London’s Elephant Park

RAREBIT will offer the dish of toasted bread with a hot, cheese-based sauce alongside a wider menu that ‘celebrates British cuisine’ and a large selection of fine wines sourced from independent British and European wineries.

The 1,710 sq ft site will seat 60 inside and a further 15 outside and will also have a retail element. 

Angell and Nias have a combined experience of over 17 years in the restaurant industry in South London with previous projects including Clapham’s The Rookery.  

Elephant Park - a joint project between developer Lendlease and Southwark Council - has also signed up Mexican fusion restaurant and bar group Cheeky Chicos for what will be its third London site. 

The 1,900 sq ft unit will seat 75 diners inside and 20 outside and will focus on tacos, tostadas, and sharing plates. 

The menu has been created by restaurant consultant Andrew Lassetter, using a blend of locally sourced and authentic Mexican ingredients.

Designed by CDS Wilman, the interior of Cheeky Chicos Elephant Park will take inspiration from its Mexican roots, featuring exposed brick and colourful walls, designer tiling, and tables handmade from reclaimed wood.
