McDonald’s has expanded its first loyalty scheme in the UK, taking it nationwide, following a successful trial.

MyMcDonald’s Rewards will be available to all customers from today (20 July), via the fast-food chain’s app, with customers earning 100 points for every £1 they spend.

They will then be able to redeem their points against menu items, with 1,500 points enabling the customer to have a free small fries or hash browns, for example, while 4,000 points would allow them to choose from six chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac.

McDonald’s UK and Ireland SVP and chief marketing officer, Michelle Graham-Clare said: “We’re incredibly excited to launch the MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme in the UK.

“We were delighted with the response from customers during our recent trial and I am so pleased we’re able to launch nationwide today.”

The trial was launched in January this year in 10 restaurants in the north of England, before rolling out to 65 further restaurants by the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Burger King UK announced the launch of its own new UK-wide loyalty scheme this week, called Your Burger King.

The scheme will be available across its UK stores, online and click and collect orders from 26 July, with customers able obtain points, known as crowns, that can be redeemed against 22 of its menu items, including its Whopper burger.
