Gordon Ramsay is taking his Lucky Cat to Manchester
The restaurant group has made a licence application to take on the three-storey building on King Street, once home to HSBC Bank, according to Manchester’s Finest.
The application includes plans for trading on three floors meaning that the building’s bank vault will be used alongside spaces on the ground floor and a mezzanine level.
Lucky Cat made its debut in Mayfair in 2019 when it took over the site of Ramsay’s Maze restaurant. Its menu is designed for sharing, with small plates cooked on a robata grill. Dishes include sashimi, sushi and ceviche; a range of dumplings and bao; and larger meat and fish plates.
Manchester continues to attract London operators to the city for large restaurant concepts, with The Ivy Brasserie and The Ivy Asia both located in the city. Nikkei restaurant group Chotto Matte is also coming to the city with the opening of a rooftop restaurant at its St Michael’s development.
Ramsay is also looking to open a second Lucky Cat in the capital, with the group looking to take on the former Bird site on Shoreditch’s Kingsland Road.
Last year Worcestershire-based pop-up ramen bar Lucky Cat Noodle changed its name to Maneki Ramen following a complaint of trademark infringement from Gordon Ramsay Holdings.
