Street food village brand Stack wants to open two more venues

Danieli Group, which runs Stack Seaburn in Sunderland and founded Stack Newcastle (now closed), has submitted plans to convert the former Marks & Spencer store at Silver Street, Durham, into a Stack.

It has also unveiled a project at Newgate Street in Bishop Auckland after being appointed a development partner by Durham County Council.

The group intends for both sites to be transformed into mixed use leisure venues, with Stack Durham to feature seven street food outlets, five bars, a coffee shop, stage, communal seating and a roof top terrace.

The plan also includes a games room for competitive socializing, which will offer a range of interactive gaming experiences such as shuffleboard and darts, using the latest technology.

Stack Bishop Auckland will be a new build over two floors with a retractable roof and will offer the opportunity for a number of street food traders to take up residence alongside three bars which surround a central plaza area with a stage for live music and entertainment.

The group hopes that Stack Durham will open in winter 2023, with Stack Bishop Auckland due to launch in early 2024.

Stack Seaburn opened in 2020 and its current food operators include Big Fat Indian Kitchen, Acropolis, Bao Down, Boojie Burger, Chapos Tacos, and Downey’s Fish & Chips.

Stack in Newcastle closed in May this year. However, the group has applied to Newcastle City Council for permission to take on a site in the Stephenson Quarter of the city for a temporary venue.

Danieli Group is also opening a Stack in Lincoln in a former Argos store.
