Chef Ferdinand ‘Budgie’ Montoya is to launch a crowdfund to open a permanent site for his modern Filipino restaurant Sarap.

Montoya says he has found a site for the new restaurant and will be calling on his loyal customers to invest in the business to help make it a reality.

The crowdfund will launch soon on online equity crowdfunding company Seedrs, although there is still no information on how much money the chef is looking to raise.

“From supper club to permanent restaurant, the journey has been long but chef Budgie’ Montoya’s dream of opening a restaurant that is the beacon of modern Filipino cuisine in London is almost there,” says the business.

“We've found a site and we're so excited! But we'll need your help. We will be launching a crowdfunder soon to give you our most loyal of customers a chance to invest in Sarap and help secure our future.”

Montoya currently operates Sarap at rotating pop-up restaurant 10 Heddon Street in London’s Mayfair. The restaurant opened in November 2021 and was due to last for around a year.

The modern Filipino bistro built on the success of his more casual Brixton restaurant Sarap BAon, which closed in April this year.
