Caviar Kaspia opens private members club in Mayfair
More than four years in the offing, the roe-focused restaurant has opened this month on the site of the former Chess Club private member’s club in Mayfair.
The site was first mooted back in late 2018 following a successful UK pop-up the previous year. The opening was initially planned for 2019 but suffered delays.
The luxurious members club is split across a number of floors and will house a cocktail bar, members lounge, private dining room, boutique and of restaurant that will have caviar as its hero dish.
Access to the restaurant is for members only, with membership by personal invitation. Members are able to invite friends and family and ‘will possess the keys to the club and help curate the community and culture of Caviar Kaspia London’, it says.
A membership fee is not charged. Instead, Caviar Kaspia London requests that each year members add £2,000 to their account, which is credited directly towards the cost of drinks and meals in the club.
Caviar Kaspia was founded in 1927 and opened its restaurant on Paris’ Place de la Madeleine in 1953. The group is known for its discretion among its guests, and goes by the mantra ‘what happens in Caviar Kaspia stays in Caviar Kaspia’.
It operates venues in New York, Dubai, Sao Paulo, Saint Tropez, and Los Angeles.
