Joshua Hunter and Patra Panas to launch Hawthorn in Kew Village next month
Billed as a refined neighbourhood restaurant, Hawthorn will offer modern European dishes using predominantly British seasonal ingredients.
Hunter’s CV includes stints at London’s Murano and nearby La Trompette, once the sister restaurant to The Glasshouse. He also has experience cooking for private clients, including the Beckham family and Tom Cruise.
He will continue to cook at his eponymous restaurant at Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds, which he launched in 2019 in Northwood, north west London.
Panas will oversee front of house and will be a familiar face having previously worked at both La Trompette and The Glasshouse.
Established by restaurateur Nigel Platts-Martin and chef Bruce Poole, The Glasshouse closed last summer after 23 years in business.
Hawthorn will have 60 covers and will serve lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday.
“My vision for the food at Hawthorn is simply to cook food people really want to eat,” says Hunter. “We’re incredibly lucky to be supported by some of the best suppliers in the UK such as Huntsham Court Farm in the Wye Valley and Flying Fish seafoods in Cornwall, offering us access to wonderful quality produce.”
Panas added: “It’s a stunning location and a wonderful neighbourhood – there’s been so much interest from the locals popping in to see how the renovations are going and I can’t wait to welcome them.”
