Filipino restaurant Kanto opens in Leeds

Father and son chefs Cezar and Isaac Javier have opened their debut Filipino restaurant in Leeds.

Kanto has launched in Beeston, south Leeds, just outside of the city centre, serving Asian homestyle food influenced by the cuisines of the Philippines, Korea and Japan.

Menu items include Filipino BBQ pork skewers; bon chon chicken wings; Filipino style grilled chicken; pork belly served with lechon sauce; and teriyaki seabass as well as a range of noodles.

There is also a burger menu featuring the likes of a tonkatsu burger; a kanto cheeseburger; spicy chicken burger; and falafel burger.

“There are a lot of new Asian restaurants opening in Leeds but both affordability and quality food are hard to come by. Kanto Leeds will be a place where you can expect an eclectic mix of consistently delicious Pan-Asian style food at an accessible price for all,” says Cezar.

The new restaurant will be predominantly takeaway but has a small number of seats for dine-in.

“Our food will be nourishing, unpretentious and packed full of flavour,” adds Isaac. “Home cooked food that has been prepared with a lot of love. We hope it will be food that people will really want to eat, time and time again.”
