National Waiters’ Day race will return after a three-year break as part of the London Hospitality Festival.

Fred Sirieix has partnered with the festival organisers to bring back the race, which is being held on Sunday 10 September.

The race will require participants to carry a tray without spilling water along a 400 metre stretch. Extra points are given to those in fancy dress and a trophy will be presented to the fastest runner on the day.

National Waiters’ Day aims to recognise and celebrate the hardworking staff in the hospitality industry and was established in 2012 by Sirieix in aid of the Springboard Charity, which works to promote careers in Hospitality and Leisure.

“I’m thrilled to announce the 2023 National Waiters’ Day will be returning,” says Sirieix. “This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the exceptional staff who have worked so hard throughout the pandemic, and to celebrate the amazing work that they do every day.”

The London Hospitality Festival, now in its 15th edition, is an annual event entertaining staff from the industry. The festival will pause its football and softball tournaments for the race to happen at 3pm before resuming the event as usual.

“We’re excited to join forces with Fred again to host the official National Waiters’ Day race as part of the festival line up,” says Paul Gilley, event organiser. “It’s a lot of fun and hilarious to watch.”
