Cornwall-based hotel The Headland has invested £3m to open a new restaurant at the venue.

Restaurant RenMor, which translates as restaurant by the sea in Cornish, is part of an ongoing refurbishment programme at the five-star venue and has replaced The Samphire as the hotel’s signature restaurant.

It joins The Deck Restaurant in the Aqua Club and The Terrace at the hotel.

Head chef Fred Goodrich has created a menu of sharing plates and mains such as steaks cooked on open coals, and whole fish fresh from day boats.

“The food I like to create is a mix of experiences from where I have worked and which I’ve enjoyed since I was growing up,” he says.

“In RenMor I’m trying to create something which can stand up to the best restaurants in Cornwall, offering fantastic flavours in a calm, light and breezy setting.

“Produce is always the hero, and the aim is always enjoyment. We’re delivering exceptional quality and an unpretentious approach.”

The restaurant space has been redesigned to have an open kitchen and offers views over the Atlantic Ocean.

“It has taken an incredible amount of vision, planning and execution to deliver a world class restaurant and it is testament to everyone involved in the renovation that we can now welcome diners for a fantastic new experience,” says director Veryan Palmer.

“The striking interiors are warm and timeless and there is attention to detail wherever you look. It is a restaurant in which luxury is for everyone – dress up or dress down, but most of all, take your time. It’s all part of the journey.”
