Kensington restaurant Maggie Jones’s won’t open until the first half of 2024 following an electrical fire last month.

The British restaurant is undergoing a renovation after suffering damage caused by an electrical fire on 26 August.

This will be second time the restaurant has had to close since it first opened nearly 60 years ago, with the enforced lockdown during the pandemic being the first.

The restaurant is owned by The Frankel family, which also owns La Poule au Pot in Belgravia. The family says it will keep its customers updated on the renovation by sharing photographs of the repairs on its social media platforms.

Maggie Jones’s opened in 1964 and will next year celebrate its 60th anniversary. The restaurant, which is known for its rustic wooden interior and quirky style, was once a haunt of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon and is regularly recognised as being one of the most romantic restaurants in the capital.
