Brunch-focused Tel-Aviv inspired restaurant The Good Egg is to open a new restaurant this autumn having recently closed its Soho site.

The restaurant, which was founded by chef owners Joel Braham, Alex Coppard and Oded Mizrachi, is heading to north London to open in Camden North Yard.

The Good Egg serves a brunch menu that includes dishes such as shakshuka with preserved lemon yoghurt, za’atar; a boureka plate of  flaky pastry stuffed with spiced  potato, caramelised onion and dates; challah french toast sandwich with poached  rhubarb, orange syrup and honeycomb; and lamb shawarma hash with amba mayo, pickles and allepo fried egg.

Its menu also has nods to the cuisine of Tel Aviv’s street food stalls, the food sold in the classic Jewish delis, grand old cafés and the bagel bakeries of New York and Montreal with a range of pittas and bagels and 'treats' that include a babka slice.

Announcing the new restaurant on Instagram, the owners said that the new restaurant would feature existing dishes as well as some new dishes, hinting that it would also be open for dinner.

“We’ll be opening our doors in just a couple of weeks and we’ll be serving up our delicious Middle Eastern inspired menu that you all know and love - there might even be some exciting new additions, did someone say dinner menu?”, it said.

The group has two The Good Egg venues in Stoke Newington and Margate as well as Good Things Deli in Stoke Newington. It had, until recently, operated a The Good Egg site in Soho’s Kingly Court but made the decision to close it earlier this month.

Writing on Instagram about the Soho closure it said: “After much deliberation we have made the difficult decision to close our doors in Kingly Court. It's been a challenging time for our industry as a whole over the past few years and unfortunately there are a number of factors beyond our control that have led to us having to say goodbye to Soho.

“We want to thank our team who, from day one in December 2017 through to this past week have worked extremely hard every single day, especially through these difficult times. Good Egg Soho would not have been possible without each and every one of you.”
