National burrito and taco QSR brand Tortilla has launched a competitively-priced post-5pm menu that offers frozen Margaritas for just £2.50 as it looks to take a bigger slice of the evening market.

Available from 5pm to 8pm daily at all of Tortilla’s UK sites, the Sunsets menu is being marketed under the slogan ‘dinner for a tenner’.

The menu is made up of Tortilla’s existing counter-ordered selection of customisable burritos, tacos, naked burritos and salads plus three sides that are only available in the evening: sweetcorn ribs in sour cream, tortilla chips and fresh salsa, and queso fundido, a take on fondue involving  hot chipotle cheese and caramelised chorizo.

Tortilla has also launched a £2.50 ‘happy hour’ which includes cans of Beavertown Neck Oil IPA, Tortilla’s house Margarita, Mexican beers, premium craft ciders and some 0% options.

The happy hour offer is only available for Tortilla Club loyalty members that are eating in.

In Scotland, the drinks offer is available all-day Thursday to Saturday while in the rest of the UK Tortilla's happy hour runs alongside its wider evening offer from 5pm to 8pm every day of the week.

“Inspired by San Francisco’s taquerias, each restaurant boasts a relaxed vibe with neon lights and feel-good tunes, perfect for dinners with friends, family and colleagues,” the press release reads.

“At a time where everyone is feeling the pinch and the Autumn weather is drawing in, Tortilla offers guests a taste of sunny Mexico and California at an incredibly affordable price.”

The currently daytime-focused brand  follows in the footsteps of Pret a Manger in attempting to get more traction in the evening market.

The sandwich giant has experimented with evening offerings twice, once in 2015 and again in 2020.
