Freddy and Nessa Bird to open 1 York Place in Bristol
Freddy and Nessa Bird have taken on the site that was formerly Rosemarino restaurant on York Place in Clifton for what will be their third restaurant.
Called 1 York Place, it is described as being a ‘cosy 46-seater neighbourhood restaurant showcasing the best in European produce and wine and a few from further afield’.
“It really is such a treat to be doing this again,” say the pair.
“So many elements of opening a new restaurant are out of our control but we are pushing hard to get things done and in place. We are still cleaning, sanding, painting, organising & recruiting staff.”
Bristol-born Freddy Bird began his cooking career in London working at two Michelin-starred The Square with Philip Howard and then at Moro with Sam and Sam Clark. He returned to the South West in 2008 as executive chef of the restaurant at the Lido Bristol and then as its newer sister site the Thames Lido in Reading.
The Birds opened Little French in 2019 in Westbury Parkl, followed by Little Shop, which opened in Westbury Park in 2021. They are also behind Buxton & Bird pies, which used to have a unit at Bristol’s Cargo 2.
They say they are aiming to open their new restaurant in early to mid December but are yet to have an exact date,
