Gary Usher warns tough trading could force him to close Burnt Truffle
The chef and restaurateur behind the Elite Bistros group took to X (formerly Twitter) yesterday evening (29 November) to try and encourage diners to come to the restaurant, which he launched back in 2015.
He said: “We’ve been open in Heswall nearly 10 years. The kitchen has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes and I don’t think the food has ever been so good. We also do a simple great value menu with beef ragu rigatoni and relatable things.
“We’ve just had a full set of new furniture. We still love Burnt Truffle.
“If it’s not to be it’s not to be and we will never give up, but if people don’t come it obviously doesn’t work. Appreciate this looks desperate and perhaps a bit needy, but we just aren’t getting enough people in to cover the costs of being open.
“If you would be upset if Burnt Truffle closed, please help us spread the word we are still open and bloody good at what we do.”
If Brunt Truffle does close it will become the first restaurant in Usher’s portfolio to shut its doors.
Usher, who is a pioneer of using crowdfunding within hospitality to get new projects off the ground, launched his first restaurant, Sticky Walnut, in Hoole back in 2011 and followed it with the opening of Burnt Truffle four years later.
In subsequent years his Elite Bristos group has grown significantly across the North West of England and now encompasses six restaurants, one pub, and a nationwide meal kit business.
