Fast casual pan-Asian chain Banana Tree has doubled its estate in a year following its acquisition by The Big Table Group.

In the last month the group has opened sites in London’s Greenwich, Bath, and Henley, taking its total number of new restaurants launched this year to nine and bringing its overall estate to 18.

The Big Table Group, which also owns the Las Iguanas, Café Rouge and Bella Italia brands, announced its acquisition of Banana Tree in September last year.

“We are delighted to have successfully opened three brand-new restaurants in the space of a few weeks,” says Anne Chow, managing director at Banana Tree.

“This has been a busy year of new openings and we’ve been really happy to see how well our new restaurants have performed – our teams have done a brilliant job to make sure every site has been a success from day one.”

Back in July, The Big Table Group reported strong trading results for 2022 with adjusted EBITDA of £12.9m, up by £5.9m on the previous financial year. Full sales were £206.2m, up from £142.1m in 2021.

In September the group further added to its portfolio with the acquisition of The Restaurant Group’s leisure division, which includes the Frankie & Benny’s, Chiquito, Firejacks, and Coast to Coast brands.

The deal took The Big Table Group’s nationwide estate to more than 230 restaurants.
