South American restaurant group Fazenda is ‘actively looking’ for a second London site after its six restaurants generated a combined turnover of £4m over the Christmas period, an uplift of 51% year-on-year.

Located in Bishopsgate, the group’s recently launched London restaurant had a ‘significant’ impact on the Leeds-founded group’s overall performance and is currently 45% ahead of budget.

Fazenda also reports a strong NPS score of 78 across the group (against an average NPS of 63 across the industry), according to figures from Feed It Back.

Co-founder and managing director Tomas Maunier says that his group has a long term plan to open a third site in the capital and will also look to expand to mainland Europe within the next two years

“We’re also planning on taking all regional Fazendas to the next level and elevating the menu and overall experience across the group, to match that of Bishopsgate based on the success of our first opening in the capital,” he adds.

Fazenda’s regional sites are premium but the group has invested heavily at its London site to create the most upmarket take on a rodizio - a restaurant that offers a succession of grilled meats carved at table for an all-in price - that has ever been seen on these shores.

Fazenda was launched by Maunier and Robert Melman in 2010. Both of Argentine descent, the pair met by chance at a food festival in Huddersfield.

The original Leeds restaurant has now been joined by sites in Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham.

The menu is now overseen by executive chef Francisco Martinez, who worked at seminal Spanish restaurant El Bulli in the early 2000s and has gone on to hold senior roles at a number of international restaurant groups including Aqua.
