A fine wine auction and dinner hosted by top chefs Heston Blumenthal, Angela Hartnett, Fergus Henderson and Herbert Berger has raised over £140k for Action Against Hunger (AAH).

Held at 1 Lombard Street, the fundraiser saw four of the UK’s best chefs prepare one course each for 180 guests, who were given the chance to bid on a range of fine wine and luxury dinner auctions throughout the night.

The top lot for the evening was a meal for two at Ferran Adria’s El Bulli in Roses, Spain, which raised £10.5k for the charity that aims to help thousands of malnourished children and families throughout the world.

Herbert Berger, chef patron of 1 Lombard Street, said it had been a ‘delight’ to work alongside the likes of Blumenthal, Hartnett and Henderson.

“This evening has been a wonderful success,” he said. “The support shown for Action Against Hunger tonight really brings home how important the work of this organisation is. Action Against Hunger makes a tremendous contribution to the fight against hunger worldwide.”

Also falling under the hammer were a wine buying trip to Champagne and Burgundy, a selection of fine wines from Alsace, a cooking masterclass with Vivek Singh at The Cinnamon Club, and a private dining experience at Corrigan’s of Mayfair for 12 people amongst others.

At the National Restaurant Awards, held at The Hurlingham Club this week, also saw £2.3k raised through the sale of original artworks by the likes of Tracey Emin, Georgina Starr and Bob and Roberta Smith.

The money raised from both auctions will go towards helping AAH’s work in combating child hunger in over 40 countries worldwide.
