Peter Dyson returned to the industry from retirement to manage Legacy's Cardiff hotel
A former chairman of the Cardiff Hoteliers Association (CHA) has decided to leave retirement to manage the Legacy Cardiff International Hotel after he said he missed the buzz of working in the industry.

Peter Dyson, who worked for 30 years in hospitality before retiring from his job at Whitehouse Hotels in December 2010, has been appointed general manager of the 95-bedroom hotel.

Dyson was chairman of the CHA for two years while he worked for Thistle Hotels. He said: “I know Legacy Hotels and chief executive Andy Townsend very well from my time at Whitehouse Hotels and I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with the group as general manager at the Cardiff International."

Doubletree by Hilton Lincoln recruits senior managers

Doubletree by Hilton has recruited a general manager and sales and marketing manager for its new Lincoln hotel ahead of its opening in November.

Philip Walker, a hotel operations manager for Crowne Plaza, will join the 115-bedroom hotel as general manager while Niki Shepheard, a former media executive at Lincolnshire Tourism, has been appointed sales and marketing manager.

Walker, who has worked for Intercontinental Hotels Group and Guoman, will be responsible for appointing staff and running the hotel, Hilton's 27th to open under the Doubletree brand in Europe and Shepheard will be responsible for driving sales.

Richard Farrar, one of the directors of Brayford Hotels, the company behind the new development on Lincoln’s Brayford Wharf North, said: "Getting a GM and a sales and marketing manager in place was crucial as, although the hotel won’t be welcoming guests for another six months, when it does open we want to hit the ground running."
