Novikov to open third London restaurant
The new 120-cover restaurant is expected to open in November on the former Dolada site on Albemarle Street, just over a mile away from Novikov’s eponymous Restaurant & Bar and Brompton Asian Brasserie in Knightsbridge.
Adrian Martin, formerly of the Birley Group (Annabel’s, Mark’s Club, Harry’s Bar), has been brought in as head chef and has devised a menu of premium quality steaks and other meat.
Starters at Rextail will include wood-smoked organic salmon, dandelion, quail eggs and grain mustard; tuna tartare with koshu dressing & pickled cucumber; and griddled red sea prawns, guacamole, chilli & vine tomato sauce.
Irish Black Angus and Snake River Wagyu beef will feature among the mains alongside the likes of braised short beef ribs & herb baked bone marrow; Denham Estate venison loin with wild cranberries; and yuzu scented black cod. Desserts will include passion fruit and mango meringue bombe; and Tropézienne.
Restaurant empire
Livio Italiani has been brought in as the general manager, having spent nearly three decades working in the hospitality industry, honing his skills as one of the country’s top sommeliers.
Novikov started his restaurant empire over two decades ago with a loan of $50,000. Since opening Sirena in June 1992, his company has grown into a multi-million-pound organisation with over 50 restaurants in and around Moscow, showcasing 18 cuisines.
The restaurateur opened Novikov Restaurant and Bar in Berkeley Street in the summer of 2011, following it up with Brompton Asian Brasserie nearby in Knightsbridge earlier this year.
According to our sister title M&C Report, Novikov is also now thought to be in talks to acquire the Rififi club in Hays Hill.
Rextail is situated at 13 Albemarle Street, with an expected opening date of November.
