The organisers of the Annual Hotel Conference have said this year's event will aim to provide more relevant advice and networking opportunities than ever for the independent hotelier.

The two-day event, which takes place at the Hilton Deansgate in Manchester on 14 and 15 October, will go back to its roots this year to be a dedicated resource for hoteliers with new approaches that will aim to inspire and engage them.

Under the overall theme 'connect and communicate', delegates will be invited to attend sessions assessing the current market and forecasting the future of it.

This year's event will also see the introduction of round table discussions on areas such as technology, financing and OTAs to give delegates the chance to both gain advice and top tips as well as add their voices to the discussion.

Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide chief executive Kevin Roberts, whose speech at the 2013 conference inspired many, will return as keynote speaker with Steve Pateman of Santander also confirmed.

Now in its twelfth year, the event is open to 750 members of the hotel sector, allowing the regional hotelier to interact with big brand operators, financiers, government agencies, industry bodies and advisers to exchange knowledge, ideas and opportunities.

Event founder Chris Eddlestone urged hoteliers to consider spending time away from the business to help improve it.  "I know it can be hard to be away for two days, but I always remember what Craig Bancroft (The Northcote Group) told me, he says, if I can go back with one thing I've learnt from the conference and implement that in my business, then it has been worthwhile," he said.
