London restaurateur to open Little Bird bar with St John-trained chef
The site is aiming to offer a friendly, “neighbourhood” space, with a feel of relaxed glamour and Kew Gardens-inspired décor, plus a conservatory and outdoor terrace.
Set to open Monday to Saturday from 5pm “until late”, it will be the fourth west London opening for Angliss, who also operates Richmond-upon-Thames restaurant Rock & Rose, and the Annie’s Restaurants in Chiswick and Barnes.
The menu has been created by head chef Michelle Lepherd, whose career has included the roles of senior sous chef at the Michelin-starred Spitalfields site St John – which was awarded 91st place by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants this year ‒ and chef de partie at The River Café (which itself once featured on the World's Best list).
Lepherd has also held chef positions in San Francisco, Australia, France, and London.
Dishes will include small plates designed to pair with the site’s selection of original garden herb-infused cocktails, created by Rock & Rose mixologist Adam Bozsoki, with options such as salmon sashimi, wasabi with soy, warm rare beef with horseradish cream, prawn gyoza, and pork belly.
Angliss first began working in hospitality over 30 years ago, having helped Bill Wyman open his Sticky Fingers burger restaurant group in 1989, before moving on to open Rock & Rose and the Annie’s group.
