Burgers top Deliveroo's list of most-ordered dishes in 2017
A cheeseburger from Five Guys came top of Deliveroo’s list of most ordered dishes in the UK, with the burger from the chain in London appearing third in the overall worldwide list.
The second most ordered dish through the online delivery site was chicken katsu curry from Wagamama in London, followed by a 6oz American cheeseburger from GBK, also in London. The St Peter’s Burger from The Meating Room in St Albans was the fourth most ordered dish on Deliveroo.
Other burgers to appear in the top 10 include a Byron burger, the seventh most popular order, and the Dead Hippie from MEATliquor, one place behind - ordered from the London restaurants of each chain.
The stats appear to defy fears in the industry that the UK is losing its appetite for gourmet burgers, with a sale of Byron on the cards and the collapse of Handmade Burger Co into administration in July.
Other dishes included in the top 10 were a medium grilled chicken burrito from Tortilla in Brighton (5th), a Crazy salmon roll from Kenji Sushi in Edinburgh, and the Oahu bowl from Ahi Poké in London.
Topping the list worldwide was a Les Fernandines cheeseburger from Big Fernand in Lille, France, with a burrito from Boojum in Dublin the second most popular dish on Deliveroo. A dish from the Belfast branch of Boojum also appeared in the global top 10.
