Morito and Moro team to launch private dining room and catering company
The team behind Spanish and North African tapas restaurants Moro and Morito will launch a private dining room and catering company in Hackney Wick this spring.

Sam and Sam Clark are launching the Casa Moro catering company in May, serving Morito head chef Marianna Leivaditaki’s Spanish, Middle Eastern and Cretan dishes. It will offer stand-up tapas; ‘serve yourself’ feasts; and sit down banquets.

The 50-cover private dining room will launch in Hackney Wick’s Autumn Yard on 1 June.

Designed by Danish creative interiors expert Nina Tolstrup from Studiomama, the private dining room has a terrace that can be hired for private events.

Ticketed events will be hosted at the space throughout the year, starting with a Mangal dinner party for the launch.

On the sit-down menu will be the likes of seared scallops with cauliflower puree and crispy pancetta; seared Galician beef with barley, grapes and sumac; slow cooked lamb tagine with jewelled rice, sour plums and seasoned yoghurt; whole baked seabass with tomatoes and olives; and yoghurt cake with pistachios and pomegranates.

A tapas or mezze menu will include dishes such as humous with spiced lamb and pine nuts; labneh, chickpeas, dukkah and chilli butter; salt cod croquetas with alioli; lamb chops with paprika and anchovy butter; and cheese fritters with Cretan thyme honey.

Prices will range from £35 to £50 depending on the menu type, and dishes can be adapted to customers’ tastes.

The Clarks’ first restaurant, Moro, opened 20 years ago on Exmouth Market. Its sister, Morito, opened in 2010, followed by Morito Hackney Road in 2016. The pair have also published four cookbooks.
