Restaurant's latest Eats Out tour took us to three London venues that serve Mexican (and Mexican-inspired) cuisine: La Bodega Negra, Corazon and Temper.

La Bodega Negra

Taking some of its design cues from the sex shops that surround it, La Bodega Negra is part restaurant, part nightclub and serves a menu of homely but stylishly presented Mexican food. Launched by Australian restaurateur Will Ricker back in 2012, the venue has entrances on both Old Compton Street and Moor Street and is especially popular in the small hours thanks to its lengthy tequila and mezcal menu.

Corazon

On Poland Street, Corazón is an unassuming taco specialist that serves a menu of authentic Mexican food with some Californian influences. It’s the brainchild of Laura Sheffield, who was a site manager for Corbin & King. Born in Texas, she lived in New York and went travelling in Mexico so she knows what makes a great taco.

Temper

Neil Rankin’s original Temper restaurant is an irreverent, boozy affair with an open kitchen where huge cuts of meat are carefully grilled over open flame before being piled into tacos
and other Mexican delights. The 180-cover restaurant has an impressive drinks offer that includes a huge New World wine list, an extensive mezcal selection and a creative cocktail list.
