The team behind Covent Garden’s Wild Food Café are set to open a second site in Islington in December.

Joel and Aiste Gazdar launched the vegan restaurant in Neal’s Yard almost seven years ago, and are now branching out to a larger site.

The Islington opening will offer a wider range of dishes, including gluten-free wood fired pizzas, ‘wild’ brunch and dishes such as vegan Laksa with coconut broth, galangal, lemongrass, ginger, nori and squash.

An extended bar offering will include juices, herbal tonics and smoothies alongside natural wines and “superfood” cocktails – made using organic spirits and "medicinal" ingredients.

Unlike its original site, the new restaurant will be open for bookings.

“We have always seen all that we do as serving and benefiting the local and global community and spearheading the plant-based movement, which is so vital for the individual and collective wellbeing,” the team says.

“We are hoping to bring this hub to Angel and are very excited to be able to establish a bigger, bolder, innovative restaurant and wellbeing space in North London reaching many more people in Islington, London and beyond.”

Wild Food Café Islington will open on 7 December.
