On The Bab founder Linda Lee is relocating her Marylebone-based Korean restaurant to Soho, as well as opening her first overseas site, in Paris.

On The Bab on Marylebone Lane, which is one of two smaller, ‘express’-style restaurants in the four-strong group, closed this weekend (2 March) and will reopen later this month on Soho’s Archer Street on the site of Lee’s Mee Market restaurant. On The Bab Soho will be ‘substantially’ larger than the Marylebone restaurant and have a takeaway offer.

Mee Market opened in December 2017 and was described as a 'table and market' concept.

In May, Lee will also launch her first overseas restaurant, On The Bab Paris, which will open on rue Thérèse in the 1st arrondissement. The restaurant will be located within a cluster of streets with Korean restaurants and businesses, which will make it the ideal location for France’s first On The Bab, says the company

“I am very excited to be bringing On The Bab to Soho and even moreso to Paris,” says Lee. “I have been considering opening overseas for a long time, and Paris has a thriving, curious and ever-expanding food scene which On The Bab will bring something new to.”

“It’s sad to be leaving Marylebone, an area which I love, but the lease is up on our little site on Marylebone Lane and relocating On The Bab to my larger premises in Soho means we will continue to have a presence in W1 and customers in the area will still be able to enjoy their favourite Korean street food.”

On The Bab also operates restaurants in the capital in Covent Garden, Shoreditch and St Paul’s. Lee also owns fine-dining Korean BBQ restaurant Koba in Fitzrovia.
