Shake Shack continues to push forward with UK expansion

Set to launch later this year, the opening will see Shake Shack working with local producers and artists ‘to create a one of a kind Shack for the local community’.

Construction began with the unveiling of a custom illustration by typographer and illustrator Adam Hayes featuring the chain’s name written in 3D lettering, with the design exemplifying different aspects of the local Brent Cross community.

The Brent Cross site will serve ‘all the Shack classics’ including the signature ShackBurger; crinkle cut fries; and fresh-made frozen custard.

There will also be a selection of special menu items unique to the Brent Cross location.

Shake Shack, created by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality group, began life as a hot dog cart in New York in 2001 and now operates more than 200 US sites.

It first crossed the pond to open in Covent Garden in 2013, but has been relatively slow to expand compared to some of its US rivals.

This year, however, the brand appears to have begun pushing forward more aggressively with growth plans in the UK.

In April it announced the opening of its second restaurant outside of London​​ at the intu Lakeside shopping centre in Essex.

While in July the brand also confirmed it is to launch its debut airport site with TRG Concessions at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal​​, which is expected to open this month.
