Prezzo expands income streaming availability to all staff furloughed due to Coronavirus crisis

Italian casual-dining chain Prezzo has expanded its income streaming availability to all 3,000 staff, to help them access their furlough pay early during the ongoing Coronavirus crisis.

Previously income streaming, which gives workers early access to their accrued pay when they need it, was only available to a third of the company’s staff who all occupied front of house roles.

However, with the Coronavirus pandemic forcing restaurants to remain closed, the company has opened up the service - which is provided in partnership with financial technology firm Wagestream - to its entire workforce.

Furloughed Prezzo workers can now be paid 50% of their accrued furloughed pay on demand, for a flat £1.75 fee, with no loans involved and therefore no interest charged.

The restaurant chain says it has chosen to make income streaming available across the business to help staff cope with any unplanned expenses and relieve the additional financial pressure the coronavirus crisis is placing on many UK households.

“We are currently doing everything we can during these difficult times to support our Prezzo people whilst they are furloughed,” says Jacqueline Rouse, people director at Prezzo UK.

“Wagestream is a really great way of being able to provide that support by giving our people access to their pay earlier than they would otherwise receive it and helping to ease their money worries as much as possible.”
