Café brand Bold Street Coffee will open its fourth venue later this year, in Manchester.

Located at the University of Manchester’s University Green the café, which will have space for 80 people inside as well as an outside terrace, will open in time for the return of the students in September.

It will be the brand’s second venue in Manchester, adding to its site in Cross Street that opened in December 2021, and its fourth in the north west of England.

The brand, which is owned by GSG Hospitality, serves coffee that’s roasted in house with independent guest roasters on rotation as well as breakfast, lunch and brunch menus. Items include its ‘buoys’ – scrambled eggs with melted cheese inside a toasted brioche bun in sausage, bacon, vegan and veggie options; fried breakfasts; and sandwiches such as a chicken katsu club; tuna mayo; and chickpea and avocado.

“We’re delighted to announce our next project in Manchester. The transformation to the Oxford Road corridor in the last few years has been dramatic and the ever expanding, vibrant University makes this a diverse and exciting place to set up the next BSC after its opening success on Cross Street, says Bold Street Coffee director Matt Farrell.

“We are pleased at GSG to be adding extra roots in the Manchester food and drink scene with more to follow later in the year. After such a difficult few years, there is an air of expectation around and I think this marks the start of an exciting time for the city, speciality coffee and northern hospitality.”

Bold Street Coffee began life on the street of the same name in Liverpool in 2010 and last month opened a second site in the city at The Plaza.
