McDonald’s, Pret, Itsu and KFC are some of the highlights of this year’s Hostech, which is being held next week.

With less one week to go, the technology-focused conference returns to the Ham Yard Hotel after two years of unprecedented upheaval but also digital innovation.

Technologist and strategist Neil Miller, who has worked for Samsung, Adidas and now itsu, will open proceedings with a presentation on the shift ‘from footfall to fingers’.

He will explore how key digital milestones have impacted F&B, including the explosive growth of e-commerce and the advent of smartphones, and also put the direct-to-consumer goldrush into context.

Sarah Venning of Pret will discuss the pilot launch of the brand’s highly anticipated loyalty scheme, Pret Perks.

The scheme is the latest step in Pret’s omnichannel transformation plan, which aims to bring Pret to more people and enhance its digital offering.

Jatin Chandwani of KFC will share progress on the four pillars of the company’s digital strategy, which focuses on digital experiences, data analytics, restaurant automation and proactive service.

The programme also features innovative developments in the world of payments, virtual brands, delivery and robotics.

Victor Lugger, co-founder & CEO of Big Mamma Group will describe his unique journey as an operator launching and attracting $100m funding for sunday, a dedicated tech solution for restaurants.

REEF Technology’s Chris Sargeant will share how the SoftBank-backed firm, which has a commitment to open 700 Wendy’s delivery kitchens worldwide, is expanding in the UK by repurposing urban environments.

And Karakuri’s Barney Wragg will argue how robots working in kitchens partnership with humans could offer a solution to staff shortages.

The programme also features delivery sessions from Deliveroo, McDonald’s and Taster, as well as commentary from Tortilla, Corbin & King, Fridays, Pho, Turtle Bay and Pizza Pilgrims.
