Piri-piri chicken specialist Casa do Frango will double its estate in the coming months with the opening of two new restaurants in the capital.

The group, which has locations in London Bridge and Shoreditch, will open on Mayfair’s Heddon Street in October followed by a restaurant in Victoria at the start of 2023.

First confirmed earlier this year, the Heddon Street restaurant will become Casa do Frango’s flagship and largest site to date and will be located in the site that was previously occupied by Aboslut Icebar.

Set over two floors it will have a street level terrace, dining room, a drinks bar and two private dining rooms with space to seat more than 200 guests.

The menu will mirror that of the group’s other sites focusing on the Algarvian staple of frango piri-piri; half a chicken brushed with a piri-piri sauce and cooked over an open fire that draws on co-founder Marco Mendes’ upbringing in the Algarve region of Portugal.

Other dishes will include a selection of Portuguese sharing plates and sides such as Iberico pork croquettes; bacalhau fritters; African rice; and batatas fritas.

Casa do Frango is part of the MJMK restaurant group founded by Marco Mendes and Jake Kasumov. “This is a special moment for MJMK and the Casa do Frango team as we bring our signature frango piri-piri to central London, with the opening of our largest site to date,” says Mendes.

“There is so much untold in the story of southern Portuguese culture, which we are honoured to celebrate, and I am incredibly proud to bring the heritage, cuisine, and hospitality of the Algarve, my home, to a new neighbourhood. The team and I are looking forward to welcoming our new neighbours and friends to Heddon Street.”
