AMT Coffee acquired from administration by SSP

Administrators were appointed to AMT Coffee, which has sites across the UK and Ireland primarily in hospitals, train stations and airports, earlier today (18 November), with Nick Holloway and Will Wright from Interpath Advisory appointed as joint administrators.

AMT's business and assets were subsequently sold to travel caterer SSP, which has retained 25 sites that will continue to trade under the AMT Coffee brand name. Around 200 employees will also transfer across to SSP.

Sam Birchall, director at Interpath Advisory who led the transaction, commented: “AMT Coffee is a familiar name to many commuters and travellers across both the UK and Ireland, so we are pleased to have concluded this transaction with such a well-established operator in SSP Group, safeguarding the future of the brand as well as a significant number of jobs.”

As well as staff from each of the 18 closed outlets, the employees made redundant includes those working at AMT's head office, which will also close. 

Nick Holloway, managing director at Interpath Advisory and joint administrator, added: “The pandemic and broader economic headwinds have made this a particularly tough period for those working across the UK hospitality industry. Our priority as joint administrators will be to provide support and assistance to those impacted by redundancy.”
