Duck & Waffle will make its Edinburgh debut a year after it first announced the move.

The all-day and late night restaurant will open within the city’s St James Quarter, at the entrance on St James Crescent, in what will be its first UK venture outside of London. The restaurant first announced it would be coming to the city over a year ago.

The 8,400sq ft space will have chef counters and feature multi-coloured plumage and oil paintings of duck personalities as well as nods to Scotland’s heritage with tartans, locally-produced porcelain floor tiles, and copper finishes that are reminiscent of whisky stills. There will be two private dining rooms; The Whisky Room with charred timber walls, for up to 10 guest, and The Nest, with feather and lace chandeliers and yellow upholstery that can seat 14 diners.

The menu will follow that served in London, with dishes to include its namesake duck & waffle, made with crispy leg confit, fried duck egg and a mustard maple syrup; spicy ox cheek doughnut with apricot jam and smoked paprika sugar; and whole roasted chicken with ratte potatoes, wild mushrooms and truffle.

It will also feature dishes specially created for the Scottish venue, such as a deep-fried haggis bar made with ox cheek, haggis and duck fat caramel and served with a side of Bovril; as well as pulled aubergine with lyonnaise onions, goat’s curd and chervil; and hispi cabbage with miso brown butter, caperberries, and crispy shallots.

“We are proud to be opening our doors in Edinburgh bringing our top quality, memorable gastronomic dining experience to Scotland,” says Shimon Bokovza, Duck & Waffle brand founder. “Edinburgh is a globally recognised destination renowned for its diverse culinary offering, which made it the ideal location for opening our first UK venture outside of London – we can’t wait to welcome locals and world travellers alike.”
